Thursday July 3
Some of us got up at 4:30 the next morning to watch the spectacular sunrise from Tooth Ridge. By 8:00 we were all awake, we had eaten breakfast, and we were ready to take our side hike up to the tooth of time. Our arrival at the Tooth seemed a fitting finale to our trek: sitting atop the preeminent Philmont landmark scanning a view too beautiful to describe. We took pictures, climbed on the rocks, and tried to reconstruct our trip across our trusty map and the now distant mountainpeaks, but most of all we just relaxed and soaked in an incredible vista. All too soon we had to make our way back down, for tent city, complete with hot showers and real food, beckoned from below.
