Trail to Urraca Camp: Before the brain-taxing trail session on map and compass skills, Seth and Hunter took a second out to catch thei breath.
Tuesday, June 26
We all immediately realized that our second day on the trail was going to be much longer and hillier than our first. Still, despite a long, loud storm that elliminted any possibility of sound sleep, we all pushed on in the morning. We had woken up at six this morning, but because of wet gear and general inexperience, did not get onto the trail until nine thirty. Then, as we topped this ridge, we faced not only a miraculous vista, but also a split in trail. Most of the crew voted simply for the trail that went down, but no one was really sure. Our trusty ranger was there to save the day though, and after a short refresher on triangulation and other map and compass basics, we were all quite confident as to the route.
