We had a hard day of hiking to get to bear caves, with a lot of ups and downs on very muddy trails. The dripping rain continued until almost noon, and everyone's gear was completely drenched. Forunately, the sun came out when we got to camp, and we were all able to spread our stuff out on the meadow to let it dry. The crew was supposed to do spar pole climbing at Crater Lake that afternoon, but we had again arrived too late, and missed the event. There was no water at Bear Caves (or bears or caves either for that matter), so four of us had to make a water run down to Crater Lake to fill up canteens and the water carriers. Dinner that night was a disaster, as we forgot that we had two less crew members, and so ended up making twelve servings for six people. We all force fed ourselves until we couldn't eat anymore, but there was still a quarter of a pot of food that we had to bag up and pack out the next morning to the next trash drop. Our goal for the next day's hike was to reach Beaubien Camp by 2, leaving an hour before when we thought the horse rides started. By getting up at five thirty, and taking down the bear bag very quickly, we managed to get out of camp by eight fifteen in the morning, and it looked like we might reash our goal. And thankfully, the sky was finally clear as we trudged out of camp.
