Trail Peak: Now Adam can truthfully tell his friends that he stood on the wing of an airplane at 10,000 feet.

Friday, June 29

While the other half of the group was horseback riding and picking up our food at the commisary, we hiked up trail peak, one of Philmont's most distinguishable landmarks, to see the wreckage of a World War II bomber that had crashed into the side. The wreckage covered almost a quarter square mile of the hill side, consisting of disfigured and melted pieces of metal, various shattered airplane fragments, and a large wing, split widthwise. In addition, there was a memorial at the top to the one crew member who had been a distinguished member of Boy Scouts and a part of the tribe of Mic-o-say. The bestilling sight of the wreckage was definitely worth the hike to the top..
